CJD Foundation

The CJD Foundation is a nonprofit organization that assists families affected by Prion Diseases, including Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). CJD is a rare, rapidly progressive neurodegenerative disease, one of several Prion Diseases caused by prion proteins that misfold in the brain. There is no treatment and the disease is invariably fatal. The mission of the CJD Foundation is to support affected patients and families, raise awareness, support medical education, and fund research into treatment and a cure. Programs include research grants, a seven-day HelpLine, family support groups, medical education, and an annual conference for families and scientists.
