Our Mission

Our mission is to mobilize an engaged network of collaborating organizations to advance U.S. federal policy related to Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders (AD/ADRD). By focusing the nation’s attention on AD/ADRD, the Coalition aims to accelerate transformational progress to reduce risk, enhance detection and diagnosis, improve care and support that enhance quality of life, and develop increasingly effective treatments and eventual cures.

Health Equity Statement: The LEAD Coalition is deeply committed to ensuring every individual has access to resources to achieve better health outcomes in an equitable, timely, accurate, compassionate, and actionable manner. Across all priorities, we work to eliminate structural barriers and disparities and dismantle the stigma and discrimination that undermine the well-being and dignity of individuals at risk for or living with AD/ADRD.

Our Policy Priorities

  • Advance and protect evidence-based decision-making across government and maintain an ongoing national commitment to implementing the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA), including sustained AD/ADRD federal funding.
  • Accelerate innovation to reduce risk (or prevent), detect/diagnose, treat, and eventually cure AD/ADRD, including the importance of efficient and person-centered regulator and public payer decision-making processes.
  • Improve quality of life for people living with AD/ADRD and their care partners by strengthening care and support services, enhancing protections against discrimination and elder mistreatment, and enriching the AD/ADRD capability of the healthcare and social services workforce.
  • Elevate the need for healthcare system preparedness across the entire care continuum, from risk reduction to early detection and care coordination.
  • Expand comprehensive public health efforts, including education and surveillance.
